About the Race
Mack Cycle Key West Triathlon’s Olympic Distance course features an Atlantic Ocean 1.5km swim from Higgs Beach, a 40km bike along South Roosevelt/US 1 beachside and up US1 to Boca Chica Naval Air Station, and a 10km out and back run along Smather’s Beach. The swim exit features a beach exit with a short run to transition. The bike and run courses are out and back with a short beach finish for the run.

We were originally scheduled to do this race last year, December 2017. We were standing on the beach, ready to go, when they announced it was now a duathlon due to weather concerns. We got our shoes and socks on, and were ready for the run. Then they announced the entire event was completely canceled. Very disappointing, but understand the safety reasons for doing so. We are going to try it again this year.
